Overview

This document outlines the process and required fields for creating new user accounts in Microsoft Entra ID for Strategic Systems Inc (STRSI).


Required User Properties

When creating a new user, ensure all of the following fields are completed accurately:

FieldDescription / Required Format
Job TitleUser’s full job title (e.g., Software Engineer).
Appears in org charts and Microsoft apps.
Company NameSTRSI, Stratsol Software Systems.
DepartmentUser’s department (e.g., IT, Sales, HR).
Used in Dynamic Distribution Lists and org charts.
Office LocationSelect one of: HQ, Remote, India, or Brazil.
Employee TypeChoose one of: FTE (Full-Time Employee), Contractor, PTE (Part-Time Employee), Advisor.
Hire DateDate of hire.
ManagerAssign the user’s direct manager. Used for org charts and hierarchy mapping.
Personal EmailNon-STRSI email used for communication outside the company
(e.g., onboarding, offboarding, or recovery).
Personal Phone NumberUser’s personal contact number for HR and recovery purposes.
Use E.164 format: +11234567890
User Principal Name (UPN)Must follow the standard format:
{first/given name initial}{last/surname}@strsi.com.
Examples: jsmith@strsi.com for John Smith and rpatel@strsi.com for Rahul Patel.
Usage LocationUnited States, India, or Brazil

Licensing

  • All users are automatically assigned M365 Business Premium license.
  • Additional licenses (e.g., Power BI, Visio, Project) can be assigned based on role requirements.

Notes on Directory Integration

  • The Department field drives Dynamic Distribution Lists for departmental communications.
  • Manager, Department, and Job Title fields combine to build org charts both:
    • Within Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, etc.)
    • Externally, for HR and organizational planning systems.

Summary Checklist

Before finalizing user creation, confirm:

  • All required fields are completed and accurate
  • User Principal Name follows the {first/given name initial}{last/surname}@strsi.com convention
  • License: M365 Business Premium (minimum) assigned
  • Department, Manager, and Title fields are filled for org visibility
